Abstract

Research about Group Support Systems mainly uses western culture as a point of reference. While the accumulated result based on homogeneous group from western culture is very promising, it may be less useful when applied directly to different cultures or cross-cultural situations. This research aims to explore the cultural issues in Group Support Systems’ implementation in Indonesia, which has relatively high power distance, low individualism, and low uncertainty avoidance . This study will analyse a typical group meeting activity in Indonesia by a proposed model, such that current group support technology and facilitation will be enhanced. The focus of the research will be at a pre-meeting stage, during strategy formulation activity.

Objectives

The overall goal of this research is the design, development, implementation and evaluation of Lotus Notes templates to support decision making in the Indonesian culture at the pre-meeting stage for strategy formulation activity.
